DUBAI – The Dubai Civil Defence has launched an information campaign at Dubai Mall on how to use fire extinguishers. The campaign, to continue till August 22, is open from 8pm to midnight at the Gold Souq’s Treasury Dome in the mall.
Major General Rashid Al Matrooshi, Director of Dubai Civil Defence, said that safety tips cannot be sent to all people’s homes, so a pavilion has been set up at Dubai Mall, one of the most visited places in Dubai.
“About 80 per cent of the fires are small and the damages are low, but the Civil Defence carry out awareness programmes at all major exhibitions across the country all year round to raise awareness,” he said.
Adnan Al Suleiby, General Manager of Saudi-based fire-fighting equipment manufacturer SFFECO (Saudi Factory for Fire Equipment), pointed out that there are five types of fires, each requiring a different type of extinguisher to deal with. He explained that during the campaign, visitors will learn how to use a fire extinguisher and plan evacuation. More info
