MEED reported that local developer Limitless has received bids for a contract to design and build a mass transit system at the Downtown Jebel Ali development in Dubai.
A Limitless spokeswoman said that “We have received bids and we are assessing initial proposals before moving to the next stage.”
The automated light railway system involves the construction of four transit lines. Each line will serve one of Downtown Jebel Ali’s four zones.
A station on the red line of the Dubai Metro, which is currently under construction will serve each zone in Jebel Ali.
Downtown Jebel Ali will cover 11 kilometers of Sheikh Zayed road and, once complete will house 200,000 people in 326 buildings of which 237 will be residential towers.
