MAPEI, global leader in the production of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for buildings, has revealed that it will conduct an exclusive exhibition of the pioneering solutions that were used in some of the most challenging construction projects in the region, including the groundbreaking Dubai Metro, during its participation at the Big 5, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 23 to 26, 2009. The company revealed that the materials it supplied in the construction of the Metro were among the key factors that contributed in fast tracking the delivery of the project.

MAPEI will also be showcasing a wide range of adhesives and grouts used to install ceramic and natural stone, an area wherein the company has been regarded worldwide as the absolute leader, while it will also conduct a special presentation of adhesives for an expanded range of finishes such as wooden, PVC and sports flooring.

One of the company’s key products used in this region is TOPCEM, a rapid hydrating screed on which practically any finish can be installed within one to four days, delivering substantial time savings compared with other products that normally take between three to six weeks before they can be worked on. Other products which have recently proved highly successful have included the ULTRAPLAN range of self levellers – also providing fast-track solutions – and the KERAFLEX range of adhesives. Mapesil AC, high performance silicone sealants available in a standard range of 26 colors has also seen considerable demand in the UAE market.

Laith Haboubi, Business Development Manager, IBS-MAPEI, said, “Dubai Metro is just one of the unique projects in the Middle East in which, due to the technological demands and the finish chosen, many of the materials used in this project and the method of application had not been previously used in the region. Through our participation at the Big 5, we seek to provide a platform for our target audiences to better appreciate the type of solutions that we have introduced in the region and the practical value that they bring to the different projects that we have been involved in, particularly the Dubai Metro and also the Formula 1-associated projects in Abu Dhabi.”

“In addition, we would like to emphasise that MAPEI’s technical services and support extend beyond simply providing data sheets as we also conduct on-site advice and in some cases, physical tests to ensure a successful final installation. Our primary objective is to help our clients achieve long-term value in terms of durability, cost-effectiveness and efficiency in their projects,” added Haboubi.

The company has an impressive array of eco-friendly solutions which underline and support the ongoing green building initiatives in the UAE. It has pointed out that up to 70 per cent of its research and development budget is allocated on green products alone, highlighting MAPEI’s commitment and support to sustainable development and its leading status in this important category. MAPEI’s LEED-compliant “Eco” line has now emerged as one of the company’s fastest-growing product lines.

MAPEI has also been involved in many other key projects in the UAE, including Yas Island, Burj Dubai, Atlantis Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace Hotel, and Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 1 and 3.
