“We live in a world of engineering from planning to carry out services in order to provide a variety of services and use the underground space — through micro tunnelling — while maintaining the environment’s sustainability towards the achievements of future smart cities.
The use of advanced IT technology in tunnelling acts as a solution for the preservation of the environment and architectural areas and heritage,” said Al Maidoor.
“The UAE became the model of progress, prosperity and civilisation. The engineering sector’s developments were parallel with the other areas of developments, in which it brought an overall achievement in our country in all areas. The SOE-UAE takes in deep consideration the global developments in various engineering disciplines and construction in order to meet the required development that is taking place in the UAE in towards best engineering practices.”
The SOE-UAE, in collaboration with the International Tunnelling Association, hosted its maiden two-day conference. The event witnessed participation by around 600 experts from more than 50 countries, and 150 students from national and international engineering universities, in which 70 research papers are to be presented, creating a wider chances of networking and transferring knowledge and expertise.
Thirty companies are also participating for the best technology and IT exhibition in tunnelling. More info
