DUBAI: Starting at the stroke of midnight on Friday, The Dubai Mall Catwalk at the Fashion Avenue of the world’s largest retail mall sizzled with the latest international haute couture, enthralling DSF visitors on the last weekend of the Dubai Shopping Festival 2013, with a series of fashion shows featuring the world’s top brands.
With a captivating mix of beauty, design and choreography, the ‘Midnight Fashion’ show enthralled an appreciative audience, which was dazzled by the glitz and glamour of the hour-long fashion affair being staged at the wee hours, another first for the region.
In attendance were dignitaries, socialites, fashionistas, select media and mall goers, whose approving nods, thunderous applause and broad smiles were evidence of their enjoyment of the mesmerising display of haute couture featuring top global fashion brands from the renowned multi-brand retailer Galeries Lafayette, the show’s main partner.
The models, both men and women, presented graceful, well-choreographed sections in three parts — daytime wear, classic chic and eveningwear at 12am, 12.25am and 12.45am respectively, each lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Fashion aficionados marvelled at the latest creations from such illustrious brands as Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren Jean Collection, Sonia Rykiel, Karen Millen, Christian Lacroix, Red Valentino, Missoni, Saadig Voltaire, Diesel, Reiss, Poca Poca, Kalaeidoscope, Pinko, Paul K and Agnes B, which are all part of Galeries Lafayette’s 2013 collection.
Younes Barhdadi, a Moroccan based in Dubai, said: “I never expected to witness a fashion show inside the mall at midnight.
“But instead of feeling tired after roaming the mall for hours already, this fashion show kept me awake and made me fall further in love with beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories.
“It was amazing how the DSF surprises people with wonderful events like this.”
Visiting tourists America Briceno from Venezuela, and Joaquin Guedon from Spain said they were having the best time of their stay in Dubai during the Midnight Fashion show. More info
