Dubai residents would prefer a Metro that ran 24-hours a day, throughout the year, reveals an online poll run by Emirates 24|7.

Majority of the respondents (71 per cent) who took part in the poll, believe that Dubai never sleeps so why should the Metro stop running even at odd hours.  On the other hand, 26 per cent say that there is no pressing need for the Metro to run all the time, whereas a 3 per cent of the participants were not sure about the hours of operation.

Recently, the Dubai Metro ran for nearly 24 hours during the Eid holidays, making it simpler for residents and tourists to commute within the city. On a normal day, trains run from 6am to 11pm, Saturday to Thursday and from 2pm to midnight on Fridays.

Even though Dubai residents remain a hopeful lot, big cities around the world with an established  mass transport system do not run the trains 24-hours a day. For example, the popular London Underground takes a few hours of sleep. The timings of the trains differ with each line but on an average, trains generally run between 5am and midnight, Monday to Saturday. Operating hours are reduced on Sunday. More info
