A system that cuts the response time for cars which have been hit by traffic accidents by 40% will be introduced in the UAE, announced authorities.
Last week, the UAE Cabinet adopted the technical regulations for the emergency communication system, Ecall, issued by the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA).
When two vehicles collide with each other, or anything else, Ecall communicates the incident via the driver’s mobile network, which it uses as a communication channel.
Ecall will be applied to 2021 UAE car models, which will be delivered in the market by 2020, Abdullah Al Maeeni, Director General of ESMA told emirates news agency WAM.
The system, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa and the second globally, will be introduced in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). More
