There are plenty of ways to buck traffic on the busy Dubai roads on the New Year’s Eve and still watch the fireworks. In fact, of more than one landmark. Here’s how:

1. Al Qudra: It’s a perfect spot for watching the fireworks from a distance. Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab will be in your line of sight and so should be Global Village fireworks that will start at 8pm and follow the time zones of China, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Russia to celebrate the new year. Carry your tents and camping gear, should you wish to spend the night there after watching the fireworks, and catch the beautiful sunrise of the new year too.

2. New residential projects: Town Square Dubai is a relatively new residential project situated along the Al Qudra road. The community developer is hosting a six-minute firework display and loads of fun activities for all. Reach there via the Emirates road or park your vehicle at one of the petrol stations along the route to catch the fireworks without getting stuck in traffic.

3. Desert: There are plenty of desert patches in Dubai where you can ring in the new year, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and watch the fireworks from a distance. Al Warsan is a popular one, where you can enjoy barbecue with family and friends and also watch the fireworks. Like Warsan, there so are several spots along the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road and Dubai Al Ain road that will be easy to reach and offer good spots for watching fireworks of Global Village and Burj Khalifa.

Both Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah would be streaming their fireworks live. You can catch them on mydubainewyear.com and www.raknye.com.
