The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has revealed plans for an integrated mobility platform, which will allow residents to pay for all mass transit systems with the simple use of their Nol card.
This service could also extend to app-based taxi services such as Uber and Careem by next year, the RTA further confirmed.
Speaking at the Dubai Integrated Mobility Platform, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed the authority’s intention to launch an Integrated Mobility Platform in Dubai, enabling customers an easy access to all mass transit systems through a single window (smart app).
In this transit hub, RTA’s multi-modal transit systems (metro, tram, buses, marine transit means, and taxis) will be integrated with transit systems of other entities in Dubai such as limo service, Palm monorail, and Dubai Trolley.
At a later stage, the services might extend to include electronic booking of taxi services such as Uber and Careem; all integrated in one app enabling the user to book the service and pay the fare.
Speaking at the event, At Tayer stated: “The Dubai Integrated Mobility Platform fulfils RTA’s vision of Safe and Smooth Transport for All and conforms to its first strategic goal (Smart Dubai), second strategic goal (Integrated Dubai), and the third strategic goal (People Happiness).” More info
