Doha Metro stations will be better connected to nearby developments than Dubai Metro, Qatar Rail chief technical officer has claimed.
Daniel Leckel said several Dubai Metro stations were located too far away from commuters’ intended destinations.
“A big problem in Dubai is the connection of the metro to [nearby] developments,” Leckel said during a presentation at Cityscape Qatar on Tuesday.
“It’s very difficult to come from the Dubai Metro to a nearby mall or something because the stations are too remote.”
Metro users have to walk about 1 kilometre along an enclosed walkway from the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station to the entrance of the mall – and another 1 kilometre to the base of the world’s tallest tower. More info
