The fight between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) over metro rail’s logo will only get worse in the coming weeks.

On Thursday, RInfra, which leads joint venture Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), categorically blamed MMRDA for having “failed to provide any guidance on this subject during the bidding stage and / or during the implementation stage.”

In a press statement issued by RInfra on Thursday, it mentioned that the logo is to be finalised in a time-bound manner and much in advance of the completion of the project. But the MMRDA decided to keep the issues open and is raising the objection when the project is all set to be commissioned.

However, MMRDA commissioner UPS Madan responded by saying, “RInfra will have to change the logo. Name of the company formed is ‘Mumbai Metro One Private Limited’ and project name should not be on the basis of stakes held by companies but on the basis of name of the consortium.” More info
