The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is today ( Tuesday) taking part in the UAE celebrations of the Flag Day.

2The move is taken in response to the national initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which coincides with the anniversary of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s assumption of office as the leader of the country.

The initiative calls for the flag has to be hoisted on all the premises of public offices, houses, and public utilities across the UAE.

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, will hoist the UAE Flag at the entrance of the Union Metro Station in the presence of CEOs, Directors, and scores of employees. Al Tayer stated that the Union Station was selected as a venue for these celebrations as “its fits the bill in a symbolic reference to the union; a key pillar of the UAE’s prosperity, unity, and development,” he says.

“The third of November each year will remain a prominent day in our lives that has been engraved in our hearts by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who opened for us the way to express our belonging to a piece-loving nation. The UAE flag is a symbol of our pride as a competent state among civilized nations. November will also remain a month to remember, as it has been crowned with the Martyr Day on Nov 30th in a gesture replicating the heroic role of our nation in maintaining the pride and defending the brotherly Yemeni peoples. It is meant to be a day for honouring the precious blood shed by the sons of our land for the noble causes of Arab dignity and unity of destiny.

The Flag Day will remain a symbol of our belonging to a nation that has granted us security, safety, happiness and sweeping development. We will remain committed to the path of the union charted by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum; which encompasses all citizens, residents and visitors.

Al Tayer will also place the last piece in an artistic design replicating the UAE flag in the Union Metro Station comprising 146 thousand pieces of Lego. Such artistic design has been accomplished by a British artist aided by a bunch of RTA employees and visitors of the station.

Ms. Moaza Saeed Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, RTA, said: “Events of the Day also include wrapping 6 public transport means in the UAE flag: 3 buses of different designs, in addition to one abra, one water taxi, and one Dubai Ferry. 45 taxicabs will be wrapped in the UAE flag, and 20 thousand brochures enclosing models of UAE flag, will also be distributed at the metro and bus stations.
