The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai and the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE) recently signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at curbing the emissions of carbon and greenhouse gases.
“The RTA is seeking to adopt the best international practices of sustainability in all affiliated agencies and sectors as well as services rendered to various spectrums of the community, and is keen on protecting the environment and public health through using state-of-the-art technologies in all transit means and associated infrastructure,” said Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector of the RTA.
“The RTA is providing a holistic range of environment-friendly services and products such as the electric-powered driverless Dubai Metro generating zero carbon waste, and public buses that use a specific type of fuel that only contains 50 ppm of sulfur whereas the commercial fuel in use has a 500 ppm sulfur content.
