A fun tour, organized by the Women’s Committee, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), to some metro stations and heritage areas in Dubai for a horde of senior citizens organized in cooperation with the Elderly Nursing Homes in the UAE, was well-received by the elderly, offering them a source of joy and happiness.

The event coincides with the International Day of Older Persons.

Besides that, it generated in them a feeling that they were well looked at and cared for by official bodies as they were keen to know about their conditions and find out how they fare, particularly on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons.

The elderly were accompanied by Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication and Chairperson of RTA’s Women’s Committee, and a number of Committee members.

The group arrived from their Elderly Nursing Homes to Etisalat Metro Station on their own buses before boarding the metro to Ghubaiba Station where a tour was arranged for them at the end of which they were offered heritage-inspired gifts while commemorative photos were taken.

Then the group boarded a bus from Ghubaiba Station on a tour around nearby heritage areas, where they were offered beverages & water. The trip was concluded by a journey back to Etisalat Station where they were hosted to a luncheon.

“This simple gesture reflects RTA’s keen attention to articulate its corporate responsibility towards various community segments into concrete actions and practical initiatives oriented to this dear segment of the society, which had played a crucial role in laying our family, social, and economic structure, besides building and cementing the standing of our country not only at the regional level but also across the globe,” she added.
