Mohammed Masoud Al Janahi, Director of Drivers Affairs at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said: “The RTA constantly seeks to review the best technological systems conforming to the best global standards in order to improve drivers’ knowledge by adopting the best driving practices.

The new driving simulator enables driving instructors at Drivers Affairs Department to quickly develop various lifelike on-road scenarios for drivers and trains them on how to reduce fuel consumption as well. It is believed that it will also have a significant impact on reducing accidents rates. The Agency is considering a plan for the introduction of the system in the near future.”

Al Janahi added, “The device can be adjusted by driving instructors and public bus drivers to simulate various driving elements in real world scenarios, especially emergency cases such as windy conditions, brake failure or tire puncture, besides training them on how to handle foggy and rainy conditions. The Department is currently upgrading & improving the skills of all driving instructors & bus drivers by implementing various training modules conducted by specialized & professional instructors capable of honing employees’ skills. The Drivers Training & Qualification Center at the RTA’s Drivers Affairs Department has been approved by the British Institute of Highfield, as an internationally-recognized safety training center.”

“The center boasts of training labs equipped with edge-cutting audio-visual devices along with logistics needed by trainees. In addition, a contract was concluded with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), UK, as regards reviewing & introducing new training programs that contribute to leveraging training efficiency, reducing accidents rates and enhancing customer satisfaction rating,” he continued.

“The Drivers Affairs Department attaches great importance to offering appropriate training exposure to public bus drivers in Dubai at world-class standards, besides upgrading their technical & scientific skills and enhancing their capabilities & performance level so that they can efficiently carry out the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to them. Such an exercise will reduce accidents and enable the RTA to increase efficiency to keep pace with the comprehensive growth drive,” said Al Janahi in a final remark. More info
