RTA extends Dubai Metro time at weekends

Dubai: The operating times for Dubai Metro are to be extended by up to one hour, from October 15, but only on Thursdays and Fridays.

“Now passengers will be able to use the metro from 6am to 12pm on Thursdays and from 1pm to 12am on Fridays,” said Adnan Al Hammadi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Rail Agency of Dubai Roads and Transport (RTA).

Currently, the trains run from 6am to11pm from Saturday to Thursday and from 2pm to 12am on Fridays.

The operational hours of the Metro, however, will remain the same during weekdays, from 6am to 11pm.

The train timing has been changed to coincide with the opening of five more stations on the Red Line on October 15.

The new stations to include: Nakheel, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Sharaf DG, First Gulf Bank and Business Bay stations.

The trains will also be more frequent from this Friday on. The number of trains will vary on the weekdays and at peak hours.

The trains will be six minutes apart during rush hour, eight minutes apart on Thursdays and Fridays, 10 minutes apart from 9pm to 11pm from Saturday to Wednesday and 10 minutes apart from 11pm to 12am at night.
