Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) awarded a contract for constructing Phase II of the Academic City Road Project, due for completion by the last quarter of 2017.Â
The road, which extends from the Dubai-Al Ain Interchange to Yalayis Road, is expected to cost $129.05m (AED474m).
HE Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors at RTA, said: “The improvement of the Academic City Road project is part of RTA’s master plan for improving roads, bridges, crossings and underpasses to cope with the rising traffic movement, and ease mobility in various parts of the Emirate.
“The project comprises the construction of a road of 4 lanes in each direction extending 25 km starting from the Dubai – Al Ain Interchange up to Al Yalayis Road.
“It also involves the construction of a bridge at the intersection of the Academic City Road with Latifa bint Hamdan Road near the entrance of the Global Village for the traffic inbound from Emirates Road, along with a signalised intersection at-grade underneath the bridge.” More info
