The Roads and Transport Authority RTA has launched the smart metro information kiosk service by deploying 50 information systems in 23 metro stations on both the Red and Green Lines, offering a diverse cast of information and services to meet the needs of the metro riders.
Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA Rail Agency, said: “The launch of the metro information kiosks conforms to the vision of the senior leadership of Dubai to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world within three years. We have therefore opted to launch this smart service which comprises a host of diverse services offering the metro users a full account about the metro use and the smooth mobility between stations.
These systems encompass key services highlighted by interactive maps of the metro station sites, timetables & neighbourhood of the station, fare calculation method, information about the metro (ride regulations, offences, types of NOL cards, and attitudes to be observed during the ride), photo & film gallery, and the procedure of making complaints & suggestions contributing to the service improvement. The device, which has an area designated for displaying commercial ads and notices to riders, is designed to display information in Arabic & English and has a large touch screen rendering the app user-friendly.
Among the key stations that have the smart information kiosks service are 16 stations on the Red Line (Rashidiya, Airport 1 & 3, Deira City Center, Riqqa, Union, Burjuman, Karama, Emirates Towers, Financial Center, Burj Khalifa, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Internet City, Ibn Battuta, Jaflia, and the Dubai World Trade Center). 7 stations on the Green Line host these kiosks (Duty Free Zone, Airport, Stadium, Abu Hail, Salah Uddin, Baniyas, Al Ghubaiba, and Al Fahidi).
