RTA mulls tie-up with Chinese

The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA)?is considering co-operation and investment ventures with China Railway, said an RTA statement.

100Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, recently received a delegation from China Railway, headed by Chairman Kuwang Young.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed possible co-operation and investment opportunities.

Al Tayer had high praise for China Railway, which is currently engaged in projects in different countries, including the Super-High-Speed Train that travels at more than 300kmph. He said he would look forward to seeing more Chinese involvement, adding that such visits would enable the two parties to exchange expertise and promote co-operation.

Speaking on the investment opportunities for the private sector in future RTA projects, Al Tayer said: “The RTA is pondering the implementation of public-private partnership as a business model with a view to creating attractive economic elements.”

Kuwang Young said he was impressed by the mass transit projects such as Dubai Metro carried out by the RTA and praised the emirate’s ability to complete such mammoth projects in a record time.
