Category won: The Best Creative Idea in Marketing and Representing the UAE Abroad

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) was the winner of the “Idea of the Year 2013” award competition in the 2nd UAE Ideas Awards in the category of “The Best Creative Idea in Marketing and Representing the UAE Abroad,” thanks to RTA’s distinguished participation in global conferences & exhibitions, especially its recent participation in the 60th International Association of Public Transport Congress and Exhibition (UITP) in Switzerland this year.

The Award was made during the closing ceremony of 2nd edition of the Awards, which took place of late at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Budoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shorooq) along with scores of senior government officials, leaders and figures. Laila Mohammed Faridoon, Director of the Office of RTA Chairman of the Chairman of the Board and Executive Director cum Head of RTA’s Creativity Team, accepted the Award on behalf of the RTA.

Commenting on the event, Faridoon said, “The RTA has won the “UAE Ideas Award” following the launch of new initiatives such as promoting the Dubai bid for hosting Expo 2020, supporting the youth category sponsored by the Youth for Public Transport (Y4PT) at the international level, encouraging the Youth for Global Public Transport Foundation to participate in the UITP MENA Congress to be held in Dubai in 2014, in addition to boosting Arabic Language through simultaneous interpretation of Congress sessions, as well as translating the event’s printed materials into Arabic as part of RTA’s participation in the 60th International Association of Public Transport Congress and Exhibition

“The RTA is always keen to nurture creativity-conducive environment by creating highly competitive work atmosphere; which underscores the importance of participating in the “UAE Ideas” conference, which supports all aspects of creativity pursued by institutions and individuals through optimal utilization of national human resources, besides creating a work environment that encourages creativity and innovation, transferring useful experiences, innovating ideas & suggestions and unleashing capabilities to realize sustainable creativity that we all seek,” added Fraidoon.

Fraidoon further added: “Events such ‘Emirate Ideas’ have a positive bearing on strengthening the knowledge economy, which serves as a key catalyst for encouraging governmental & quasi-governmental bodies as well as private institutions to capitalize on creativity & innovation and groom their employees to embrace a culture of creativity & innovation and adopt quality & excellence driven approach in performing their daily business in a way that enhances the quality of services offered to the broad spectrum of community segments.”

“Winning the UAE Ideas Award enhances the high standing of the RTA as an internationally acclaimed entity capable of representing the UAE in international forums & events related to mass transit sector and other services of relevance in view of this sector’s great importance in promoting the progress and construction drive in cities & countries seeking to raise their standing among the world’s modern countries and metropolis.

It is worth mentioning that the RTA had won two awards in the first edition of “UAE Ideas 2012,” the first of which was the Best Creative Work in Promotion of Arabic Language, and the second was the Best Creative Work in Expanding and Strengthening Social Networking to diffuse news about RTA’s projects, initiatives and services.
