Those looking to stand out from the masses of cars which crowd Shaikh Zayed Road can put up thousands of dirhams to secure a distinctive number plate, with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority holding its 80th public number plates auction.
Director of vehicle licensing at the RTA Mohammad Abdul Kareem Nimaat said in a press release that the auction, to be held on May 25, would offer up about 100 plates. Members of the public would have to register ahead of time, and hand over a Dh10,000 security cheque, with the excess of any winning bid to be paid at a later date.
Plates on offer will be between three and five digits, with codes including “F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M and N”, Nimaat said.
People can register at the Deira and Bur Dubai licensing centres, unified service centre “Attuwar Municipality”, as well as through RTA’s website www.rta.ae.
