H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), together with senior executives across the world, will attend the grand celebrations staged by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in Brussels (17 – 19/09/2010) in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the UITP; which will hold its 59th Congress and Exhibition in Dubai 2011.
The Preparation Committee for the Congress & Exhibition is chaired by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of RTA Marine Agency, who has been selected by the UITP as representative of the Executive Committee for the Middle East & North Africa (MENA).
As part of preparations for the Congress, RTA has endorsed a plan worked out by the Preparations Committee for the Congress in coordination with the UITP, to hold a series of events at the regional and international levels to promote the Congress & Exhibition, showcase the image of Dubai through participation in events held at the regional & global levels.
“RTA will take part with UITP in the World Expo to be held in Shanghai, China (5 – 9/05/2010), which will host the session of UITP Political Board featuring a host of educational tours for Congress members. The event will witness a contest for youth under the theme (Solutions for Our Future) and May 8 will be dedicated as Dubai Day; which is intended as a promotional vehicle for Dubai Emirate in the fields of trade, culture and tourism to showcase the profile of the city worldwide,”
said Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of RTA Marine Agency, and Chairman of the Preparation Committee for the Congress and Exhibition.
“The event will exhibit several fine traditional and heritage habits including UAE traditional foods, popular music & arts, and Henna designs for ladies. The program will also include a joint press conference between the RTA, UITP and Shanghai Expo to promote UITP Congress (Dubai 2011),” he added.
Al Mulla unveiled that RTA would also take part in the Middle East Rail Opportunities 2010 Conference scheduled on 19th – 21st April, 2010 in Bahrain, including a press conference to promote the 59th UITP Congress & Exhibition hosted by Dubai in 2011 and the event would be attended by senior international executives, experts and researchers in the field of transportation and associated services from all over the globe as well as representatives of specialized companies.
RTA would exhibit Dubai city practices in transportation & public transport sector, and its infrastructure of fixed assets that enabled it to offer best-in-class public transport services, particularly in the metro, public buses and marine transport modes.
He further revealed that Dubai Autism Center has been selected as a recipient of the funds to be raised during the Congress & Exhibition and the event would be a good opportunity for the RTA to highlight the corporate social responsibility of both the RTA and the UITP. The amount raised would be a big boost for the efforts of Dubai Autism Center to source top-class specialized educators.
“RTA is endeavouring, as usual, to honour its corporate responsibilities towards the community and will support Dubai Autism Center through Charitable Activities spot in the program, as the policy of the UITP mandates deduction of a certain amount from each registered participant and donating the fund to a local charitable society,” said Al Mulla in a final remark.
