In the context of the ongoing response to the national initiative rolled out in 2012 by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, commemorating the accession of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the UAE President by hoisting the national flag in all entities, homes and public facilities across the UAE, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) yesterday participated in the UAE Flag Day event.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, hoisted the national flag above the mast at the front of RTA Head Office in the presence of a host of CEOs & Directors as well as scores of employees who raised handheld flags articulating this blissful national moment. Festivities included playing the national anthem by a military band, then 21 employees placed a mega UAE flag on a building facade, while 22 others displayed a fabric-made plaque in which it was written: # Long Live our Nation, Long Live our UAE Federation. Then attendees posed to a group photo with Al Tayer beside a bus decorated by the UAE Flag; which has then started to offer normal services in Dubai roads in a festive guise.

“The UAE Flag Day will remain an iconic day in our life embossed by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who set the path for us as to how to express our sense of belonging to a nation that beamed love & peace inside out such that I’m Emirati has become synonymous of good & virtue,” said Al Tayer.

“Selecting 43 employees to carry the flag was meant to herald our 43rd National Day celebrations on the second of December as we believe the two events are a testament to the high profile and the lofty regard to this nation whose flag will forever remain in our hearts,” he added. More info
