Two of the new bridges will come up on Bani Yas Street: One near the Department of Land and the other near the Dubai Municipality.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will construct 10 new pedestrian bridges in Dubai in 2015-2016, at a cost of about Dh40 million, taking the number of footbridges to 120 by 2016.

According to the RTA blueprint, two of the new bridges will come up on Bani Yas Street: One near the Department of Land and the other near the Dubai Municipality.

The other eight will be constructed on Khalid bin Al Waleed Street (near the Rifaa-Saadiyat intersection), Al Nahda Street (near Al Tawar Centre), Al Ittihad Street (nearby Dnata), Al Maraabi Street (Road 323), Al Mankhool Street, Latifa bint Hamdan Street (near Al Khail Mall), Al Ribat Street (near Bel Remaitha Club), and the Dubai–Al Ain Road (near Skycourts building).

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA board chairman and executive director, said the new bridges will be constructed in busy locations identified from traffic studies on the intensity of pedestrians’ movements in areas boasting shops and other establishments as well as locations recording a high incidence of accidents.
