The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the introduction of a parking permit system designed for inhabitants of residential districts in the emirate, issuing them with free parking permits usable in non-paid parking zones overnight.

The step is taken in response to the recurrent spotting of vehicles coming from other places (outsiders) using residential parking slots at night, causing trouble to inhabitants.

Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said: “These parking cards allow residents of the neighbourhoods to exclusively use public parking areas in their districts at night.

“Thus they will be issued with Type R parking cards, depending on the size of the residential unit in terms of the number of rooms, and the type of accommodation (flat, house, villa). More info
