RTA to reward students for innovative traffic safety idea

DUBAI: In a bid to promote road safety, a cash reward has been availed for Intermediate and High schools levels nationwide for the best idea in a contest entitled, “Road Safety”, an initiative by the Roads and Transport Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE).

A reward of Dhs23,000 will be distributed to six winners from primary and secondary schools. The contest has been enlisted as a community-oriented contest in MoE’s General Competitions Guide.

“The theme of the Contest revolves around innovating an idea, a project or an awareness programme about traffic with specific and measurable objectives, and clear-cut and easy-to-implement mechanisms, provided that such innovation is new and unprecedented,” said the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, Maitha bin Adai.

She said the main idea of the contest is to motivatie students to take traffic awareness topics as part of their school routines, and “migrating from stereotyped lectures to issues capable of capturing students’ attention and arousing their interest through encouraging them carry out relevant researches and contribute new inputs for which they will receive cash rewards.”

The arrangement entail students to develop a traffic-related concept, project, campaign or awareness program, with specific measurable objectives, together with clear-cut and easy-to-implement procedures, provided that such innovations are new and unprecedented. More info
