The data were generated from the 10 Metro stations on the Red Line. Dr Aysha Al Busmait, Director of RTA’s Customer Service Centres, said the RTA’s Rail Agency publicised several safety guidelines for the public at the stations and on board the trains.

RTA urged the users to carry out the instructions of the stations’ staff at peak hours to avoid overcrowding while boarding and alighting the Metro. Passengers were urged to ensure cards are charged during multiple trips.

“Besides these guidelines, there are some pieces of advice provided for commuters, including journey planning, connecting journeys with other public transport modes and the users are also advised to charge their cards, especially at peak hours,” Dr Aysha said.

“The Nol cards can be purchased from 22 selling outlets distributed all over Dubai, five public bus stations, eight marine transport stations and nine customer service centres, as well as Spinneys throughout the Emirate. This step comes to provide the best tariff paying method and reduce the rush at the metro stations to purchase cards.” She said only one card per user is sold.
