Saudi Arabia to build $ 2.4 billion railway stations

Saudi (RIYADH) – Saudi Minister of Transport Dr. Jubarah Eid Al-Suraysiri announced that 4 train passenger stations at a cost of over SR 9 billion ($ 2.4 billion) will be built for Al-Haramain High Speed Train, taking two and a half years to complete.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Dr. Al-Suraysiri -who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Railroads Organization- said in a press conference that he signed here last week four contracts to build passenger stations for Al-Haramain High Speed Train in Jeddah. Makkah and Madinah, in addition to a station in Rabigh to serve King Abdullah Economic City.

It is worth mentioning that the costs of the first phase of the train project including reclamation works and building bridges to the roads of the train amounted to over SR six billion to facilitate the movement of pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors of the Prophet’s Mosque in the holy sites, SPA said.
