Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, On Monday visited the Roads and Transport Authority headquarters to review the ongoing projects.
Shaikh Mohammad was briefed on the development projects undertaken by RTA since 2006, as well as achievements made in developing and modernising the road network in the emirate up to 2012, and RTA’s plans and strategy to complete infrastructure projects planned up to 2020.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive of the RTA, said that RTA completed a number of road projects and crossings over Dubai Creek at a cost of more than Dh30 billion from 2006 to 2012. He said these projects contributed to saving Dh60 billion in time and fuel during that period, and placing Dubai among top cities in the world.
Shaikh Mohammad was briefed on future projects, such as the Dubai International Airport Road, increasing its capacity for expected rise in number of travellers from 60 million to 93 million in 2020. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.
