The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is always keen on recognizing the efforts of its outstanding cabdrivers, encouraging them to do their best, and urging other drivers to follow suit in order to best represent the RTA, and serve as ambassadors to all customers hailing from various community segments.

“The total number of taxis [on the roads] is 7942. We are not planning to reduce the number of taxis, because we need to have all modes of transport in place,” said Essa Al Dossari, the CEO of public transport at the RTA. “We are serving a number of different categories [of people], including business people and tourists. There needs to be a variety [of options].”

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Eng. Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Board Chairman, Executive Director of Road and Transport Authority (RTA), about the route of Tram, which extends 14.7 km along Al Sufouh Street. 10.7 km will be executed in the first phase at cost Dh4 billion. It will start from Marina district to Emirates Mall.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is seeking to make the 3rd edition of the Public Transport Day a highly captivating event with the aim of attracting more passengers to use public transport means, including the metro, public buses and water bus, free of charge for one day.
