As governments across the MENA region continue to invest in infrastructure megaprojects designed to meet the requirements of their increasing populations, the Middle East's tunneling industry is rapidly expanding. The Public Transport Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently embarked on displaying enhanced designs of public bus schedules, network map and route map (single route) in Dubai Emirate. Under the new method, bus commuters will find it easier to read the timetables, review the network and check the route maps in a smooth and a handy manner.

Beginning in March, senior citizens and students will be able to use public transport in Dubai at half-price. New Nol cards will be introduced to facilitate the initiative. Once again, the RTA proves people come first.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will slash fares by 50 per cent for students and senior citizens from March this year, a senior official said. This discount is applicable on all public buses and Metro in the emirate of Dubai.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has revealed that RTA mass transit means, comprising the Dubai Metro, public buses, marine transit modes and taxis, have lifted more than 332 million passengers in 2010, compared to 288.777 million passengers in 2009. The average number of daily riders in 2010 was about 957 thousand persons compared to 800 thousand persons in 2009.
