Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that the number of users of public transport means (Dubai Metro, public buses, marine transit modes, and taxicabs of the Dubai Taxi Corporation only) in the first half of this year has hit 165,527,687 riders.

Khalid Bin Walid has emerged as the busiest Metro station in Dubai with more than 19,000 passengers using the station every day, a top official has told XPRESS. Roads and Transport Authority is planning to introduce almost 5.6 kilometres of bus and taxi lanes in various parts of the city commencing May 15. After studying traffic flows, the RTA has moved on the dedicated lanes.
