The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started offering unique number plates for quad bikes at the online auction held by its Licensing Agency.

"By the end of this year, we will stop accepting eye tests on paper. All eye testing centres in Dubai, about 100 centres, will soon be electronically linked to the RTA to facilitate this initiative," said Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, CEO of the RTA's Licensing Agency.

November 1st marks the launch of “Together we move,” the RTA’s second Free Public Transport day. As its name suggests, the campaign ensures commuters free rides on the metro, public buses and water bus-whatever your little heart desires, as long as you have a NOL card you are good to go.

The first phase of Dubai's latest transport scheme, which will be the world's first tram that runs with ground power feeding on the entire line without need for electrical overhead wires, is set for completion in 2014.

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Eng. Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Board Chairman, Executive Director of Road and Transport Authority (RTA), about the route of Tram, which extends 14.7 km along Al Sufouh Street. 10.7 km will be executed in the first phase at cost Dh4 billion. It will start from Marina district to Emirates Mall.

Dubai Marina was built to create an awe-inspiring city-within-a city experience for residents. Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) were touted to be prime locations in Dubai. But residents, visitors and those working in these two localities complain that there are few, or no, feeder bus services provided by the RTA.

The 73rd Open Distinguished Number Plates Auction held by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has fetched Dhs21 million for it.
