Dubai: Work on the Dh802 million Phase 3 of the Dubai Canal project begins as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) steps up efforts to extend the Creek.

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has received His Excellency Tang Wei, Consul General of the Peoples’ Republic of China in Dubai. During the meeting, they discussed prospects of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between the RTA and its counterpart in China, besides collaborating with other Chinese entities and companies operating in the rail industry and road projects.

The Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), chaired by Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, has awarded the contract for Phase I of Bridges & Roads Network of the Dubai Water Canal Project to a Turkish firm - Jonal Company - in a contract worth Dh500 million.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) plans to open new marine transport stations in Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina shortly, according to a report in the ‘Al Ittihad’ newspaper.

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has officially kicked off two days ago a new water bus line shuttling between the Mall and The Walk of Dubai Marina in the presence of Essa Abdul Rahman Al Dossari, CEO of Public Transport Agency; Ahmed Al Matroshi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties; and Isam Galadari, CEO of Emaar Properties. The event was also attended by a host of directors of the Agency, officials from both parties and a horde of media representatives in the UAE.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, has recently received HE Stig Nyman, Stockholm County Council Commissioner, in the presence of Mrs. Malin Appelgren, Solna Municipality Commissioner, and Karl Henriksson, Head of Public Transport, in addition to several Swedish government officials. From the RTA Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Strategy & Corporate Governance Sector, also attended the meeting.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently received at his office H.E. Matsunaga Daisuke; the new Japanese Consul General in Dubai.

The seventh crossing over Dubai Creek called ‘Dubai Smile’, the bridge that will replace the Floating Bridge, will open for traffic in the middle of 2013, Khaleej Times has learnt. The crossing, which links the emirate’s two flanks, lies near Dubai Creek Park, Wonderland and Dubai Courts on the Bur Dubai side and Deira City centre and Dubai Golf club on the Deira side.

RTA has solid practices in cooperating and partnering with the private sector in constructing various infrastructure projects in roads sector (roads, bridges, tunnels, crossings), and different transport systems. The volume of road projects and transportation systems undertaken by the private sector in the past six years has exceeded Dhs50bn.
