The Dubai Metro does not operate on Friday in the morning hours. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has probably assumed that very few people travel in the morning, since it’s a holiday.

Following a successful introduction of speed sensors in a number of its taxis last year, Dubai RTA will look to roll-out the device across the entire fleet.

Booking a taxi in Dubai is now as easy as shaking a mobile phone after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched the Smart Taxi app on Tuesday.

Speeds on all Dubai taxis will be locked at 140km/h as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) moves to install speed controllers on taxis aiming to cut down on traffic offences, Gulf News can reveal.

Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took part in a professional course on Taxi Vehicles Management organized by the Middle East and North Africa Transportation Excellence Centre (MENA CTE) in the Qatari capital, Doha, which aimed at exchanging expertise and knowledge in the field of taxi fleet management and to achieve its vision “Pioneers in Passenger Transport Services”.
