Burj Khalifa signs go up on Dubai’s roads
Workers have installed the first road signs bearing the new name of the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa. Two signs, one on Sheikh Zayed Road and the other between Al Wasl Road and the Defence Interchange, were installed overnight on Saturday, apparently the first to point the way to Burj Khalifa after its name was changed from Burj Dubai at its January 4 inauguration.
RTA eyes infrastructural upgrades on back of Dh3.2b revenue forecast
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that revenue forecasts for 2010 will stand at Dh3.2 billion. At the same time, the approved budget for RTA expenses this year has been set at Dh10.7 billion.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that the aggregate approved budget for RTA expenses in 2010 is Dhs10.741bn, of which Dhs2.835bn is Operational Budget, and Dhs7.906bn is Capital and Project Budget.

Red Line opening held up
The full opening of the remaining stations of Dubai Metro’s Red Line has been delayed by two months, a top official told 7DAYS. Abdul Majeed Al Khaja, CEO of the rail agency said it had granted an extension for the contractors until April to complete the work. The stations had been due to open next month.
Dubai plans $2.86bn transport spending spree
Dubai could spend about $3bn in transport infrastructure projects in 2010 as it looks to stimulate the economy and has no issue paying its contractors, the chairman of the transport department said.
