Dubai's Green Line on track for August launch — RTA
The Metro’s second line was originally slated for completion in April 2010 but was slowed by funding and contract delays in the wake of the economic crisis. “The Green Line will be completed in August of this year,” said Abdul Younes, the RTA’s CEO for strategy and corporate governance.

Quashing rumours of further delay in the opening of the Green Line, Abdul Mohsin Ebrahim Younus, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said there would be no further delay as the construction work would be completed in August according to revised plans.
Tabreed Says Awarding Contracts for 8 Plants for Dubai Metro
National Central Cooling Co., known as Tabreed, said it is in the process of awarding contracts for eight new plants that would serve a Dubai Metro line. The company said it built five new plants and expanded two others in the third quarter and has three plants and two expansions under construction, according to a statement to the Dubai bourse today.
RTA to ease gridlock in business districts
Use of private vehicles in the Central Business Districts (CBDs) of Dubai is likely to be limited once the Green Line of the Dubai Metro becomes operational after August next year, said a senior official. "The move is part of our plan to ease traffic congestion in the old city which is the hub of commercial activities and has always witnessed massive traffic jams," said the official at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
