As The National reported yesterday, five years after the Metro began service, efforts are still being made to instil in the millions of commuters a shared sense of etiquette so that passengers can live alongside each other as harmoniously as they do in other aspects of UAE life.

Kim, Vice Chairman of the SMRT Corporation in the presence of H.E., Consul General of the Republic of Korea; and a host of RTA CEOs and Directors.

Although it is nothing more than part of modern transport for some, for others Dubai Metro is a true phenomenon. And if a driverless train, self-opening doors and world-largest train track was not enough, the modern-day facility of Dubai even helps its commuters walk.

The number of commuters using the Red Line since launched on 9/9/2009 till the end of September 2012 hit 170,621,483 passengers. The ridership is continuously on the rise; jumping from 1.8 million passengers in October 2009 to 3.3 million passengers in August 2010 and went further to hit 6.5 million passengers in November this year.
