RTA to step up dealings with Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment
In its 16th meeting with the strategic members of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development (Youth Project Support), the Customer Council of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) discussed several key issues relating to enhancing the dealings with companies affiliated to the Establishment, and facilitating the transactions made between the RTA and representatives of the Small Enterprises in a way that nurtures creativity and advancement.
RTA achieves certifications to ISO Occupational Health and Safety, Environment
RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director H.E. Mattar Al Tayer received the two certificates from H.E Dominic Jermey OBE - British Ambassador to the UAE, and Theuns Kotze, Regional Director of Business Development for the Middle East and Africa in the British Institute of Safety.
Monitoring and Enforcement delivers educative lecture on Car Rental
The Monitoring & Enforcement Dep’t of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has delivered an educative lecture about Car Rental Offices at Jebel Ali Free Zone Area (JAFZA) with the aim of galvanizing the Vision of “Excellence in Monitoring & Enforcement” set by the Dep’t through maintaining continuous communication with the strategic partners, particularly the government bodies, with the aim of uplifting the quality of services delivered to the required standards.
Public transport ridership clocked 332m passengers in 2010
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has revealed that RTA mass transit means, comprising the Dubai Metro, public buses, marine transit modes and taxis, have lifted more than 332 million passengers in 2010, compared to 288.777 million passengers in 2009. The average number of daily riders in 2010 was about 957 thousand persons compared to 800 thousand persons in 2009.
RTA launches two traffic quizzes
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has kick-started its awareness plan for 2011 through launching two traffic awareness quizzes; the first targets about 12,282 college students and the second targets the students of all public & private schools in Dubai.
RTA to hold third online licence plate auction
The Licensing Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai will launch its third online auction of distinguished number plates for vehicles from January 21. Around 500 distinguished number plates with ‘G' and ‘J' codes will be offered in the online auction, which will continue for a week.
Dubai RTA changes working hours
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai will be open for an extra hour a day thanks to a new set of working regulations that go into effect tomorrow. Kawther Kazim, the director of human resources at the RTA, said the move would increase productivity and improve job satisfaction.
Emirates' new mega-project: desert railway
United Arab Emirates boasts the world's tallest building, a man-made island in the shape of a palm and is about to take its next ambitious step - linking cities by rail over the desert. UAE's Union Railway plans a $US11 billion and 1500 km railway project across the UAE estimated by 2017. The project will be phased over several years. In the end, the railway will connect the UAE to Saudi Arabia via Ghweifat city in the West and Oman via Al Ain in the East.
Municipality launches third edition of Dubai Map
The new Dubai maps will be available at petrol stations, book shops and other retail outlets, said a municipality official. “The second side of the map contains the central area of Dubai city and a window for Dubai Metro lines, so the user can plan his journey and select areas he wishes to visit,” Lootah said.
