Just as Dubai launched the Dubai Metro urban rail system last year, and Abu Dhabi plans to have its own urban train network from 2016, so China has embarked on a metro building project almost as frenzied as the urbanisation that has made it necessary.

The country’s boosters have predicted an urban Metro in Baghdad within 10 years. They are paid for such rosy assessments. Iraq, and particularly her cities, are recovering from one of the most ravaging periods in modern Middle Eastern history.

Workers in the GCC countries overwhelmingly opt to use cars to travel to and from their place of employment, according to the results of a Regus survey. In the UAE, four percent of employees walked to work, with the remaining three percent taking the public bus. No respondents said that they used the Dubai Metro to commute to work.

The DTC’s pilot project in association with Swiss sanitisation firm Saniservice, will disinfect vehicles without the possibility of causing any side-effects on passengers and drivers.

This shows that despite the Dubai Metro gnawing away at their consumer base, public buses spreading their reach wider across various areas of the emirate and the change in demographics as well as the economic pattern affecting businesses, taxis remain a popular mode of transport.

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has embarked on a program to motivate front-end employees based on the extent of care accorded to customers under the overall objective of the RTA to achieve higher customer service and customer satisfaction rating.

The Contract was signed on behalf of the DTC by its CEO Abdul Aziz Malik, and on behalf of Noor Takaful General by its CEO Parvaiz Siddiq, in the presence of several directors and senior executives from both parties.

Shot this when I travelled on the newly inaugurated Dubai Metro, during my last visit. It was a nice ride. The stations, some over 100 meters below ground level was superbly built. And since it was swanky new, they looked lovely too !
