Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) residents have been urged to pool cars, use the Metro or stagger their work hours to ease traffic congestion in the area.

Jaimie M. has been using the Dubai Metro daily to commute from her home in Karama to her office in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT). A designer by profession, Jaimie said one of the reasons she did not apply for a driving licence is that the Metro is such a convenient and safe form of transport. But the experience got unpleasant one day when a male co-passenger harassed her.

Dubai Marina was built to create an awe-inspiring city-within-a city experience for residents. Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) were touted to be prime locations in Dubai. But residents, visitors and those working in these two localities complain that there are few, or no, feeder bus services provided by the RTA.

Just five months after adding 10 new stations to the previously operating number of 11, the RTA is gearing up to open five strategically located stops this Friday. Supported by 28 new feeder buses on 6 new routes, the five stations — Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), Nakheel, Sharaf DG, First Gulf Bank and Business Bay — are seen as additional gateways to their surrounding neighbourhoods already catered by a station nearby.
