With the advent of Eid Al Adha, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced revised timings of services during Eid holiday. Metro: From Eid’s first day up to Thursday (Nov.10), Metro stations will receive commuters from 5.50am up to 1am, and on Friday from 1pm up to 1am.

Work on the long-awaited Al Sufouh Tram project has picked up pace as the contractor has started building the viaduct for the elevated tracks along Dubai Marina on Shaikh Zayed Road. Dubai Metro is getting popular with every passing day as it is being used by at an average of more than 140,000 commuters per day, said a senior official.

"The 49-kilometre Purple Line is currently at the design stage," said Al Hassan. It will be a fast track line connecting Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum Airport. The Purple Line will have high speed trains with a maximum speed of 135 to 160 kilometres per hour, while the average speed of the train will be 100 kilometres per hour.

While the Metro has created an easy commute for thousands of Dubai residents, it's also meant good business for many establishments near the stations. Malls near the stations have witnessed an increase in customer traffic since the train line's opening.

Passengers flying on Emirates now have more options for check-in when they travel, with the introduction of Self-service, Check-in Kiosks at three Dubai Metro stations. Emirates' customers can now enjoy the convenience of accessing their boarding pass and travel directly to Emirates Terminal 3 on the metro at Terminal 3 station, using the Self-service, Check-in Kiosks located at Mall of the Emirates, Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall and Financial Centre metro stations on the Red line.

He said that the Ramada Chelsea Hotel Al Barsha has received a positive response as it is ideally located close to the Mall of the Emirates and the Metro station.
