Stiff fines for running to catch Dubai Metro
Dubai Metro users should avoid running in the stations to catch trains as it poses a danger to other users and property, said a senior official. The warning came as a commuter complained that he was slapped with a fine for running inside the station to catch a train.

RTA mulls tie-up with Chinese
The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA)?is considering co-operation and investment ventures with China Railway, said an RTA statement. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, recently received a delegation from China Railway, headed by Chairman Kuwang Young.

The emirate is well on track to achieve its ambitious target of 30 per cent of commuters using public transport in the emirate by 2020. The Dubai government's Comprehensive Integrated Public Transport Master Plan, which aims to provide a complete network of transport to passengers, has started yielding results with a marked increase in number of passengers using public transport.
Dubai metro to double number of trains in April – paper
Dubai metro will double its number of trains when seven new stations open next month, according to a report on Friday. According to The National daily, a transport official said that the move would reduce the maximum waiting times at stations from 10 minutes to six minutes during rush hour.

"The number of passengers in 2010 is set to grow further with the opening of rest of the stations on the Red Line of the Metro," said Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA. He hoped that only the Metro would carry more than 35 millon passengers this year as the users are increasing gradually.
