Dubai to continue kids-go-free drive this summer
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has announced that it will continue with its popular 'kids go free' campaign from May 14 to September 30. The campaign this year will include 50 per cent discount on airfare for up to two kids under 12 years when flying Emirates and 25 per cent discount on airfare for up to two kids under 12 years when travelling on flyDubai.
Keep off bus lanes or face fines, motorists told
Motorists in Dubai have been warned again not to drive in dedicated bus and taxi lanes to avoid fines. We will use surveillance cameras on the roads with dedicated bus and taxi lanes to monitor private vehicles and will forward the information about offending vehicles to police to issue fines accordingly
RTA endorses construction of local roads in three residential areas
The Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), chaired by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, has recently approved the construction of local road projects in three residential districts; namely Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha 1, 2 & 3, and Al Warqa 1, 2, 3 & 4.
Jebel Ali Metro Station opens
RTA will operate 24 trains in the morning peak hours and 29 trains in the evening. Jebel Ali Metro Station opened on Friday following the inspection visit of Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA. The opening of Jebel Ali Metro Station brings the number of stations opened to 27.
Feeding the demand
More passengers are expected to use the Dubai Metro with the Friday opening of the Jebel Ali station, next to an industrial corridor where thousands of people work, potentially changing Dubai's public transport scene. The Dubai Metro already carries an average of 170,000 passengers daily
