The number of Dubai Metro passengers in the first two months of operation is about 40 percent higher than pre-launch estimates, transport bosses have said.

Nearly three million passengers have used the Dubai Metro in its first two months at an average of 57,000 trips per day, about 40 per cent higher than the authority's pre-launch estimate, the RTA said yesterday.

Dubai looks ahead to 2010
Following the opening of the Dubai Metro this year, the next stage - the Green Line - is scheduled to open in March 2010. It is the world's longest fully automated rail transport system and when completed the Dubai Metro will have 70 kilometres (43 miles) of lines, and 47 stations.
