Al Tayer receives Singaporean Consul
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently received H.E. Cheong Ming Foong, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai. The visit was made in the context of RTA efforts to boost the ongoing cooperative relationships with various entities at the local, regional and international levels.
Preparations for the UITP event hit top gear
With less than two weeks to go, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported that the 59th International Association for Public Transport (UITP) Congress & Mobility & City Transport Exhibition; which will be held by the Emirate of Dubai during 10 – 14 April 2011, promises to be a turning point in the history of mass transportation in the Middle East & North African (MENA) region, particularly as the event is held for the first time ever in the region.
RTA to step up dealings with Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment
In its 16th meeting with the strategic members of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development (Youth Project Support), the Customer Council of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) discussed several key issues relating to enhancing the dealings with companies affiliated to the Establishment, and facilitating the transactions made between the RTA and representatives of the Small Enterprises in a way that nurtures creativity and advancement.
RTA: Rail network on track for 2020
Al Mulla said that the RTA had slashed the cost of time wasted in traffic congestion in the municipality from $1.6 billion in 2007 to $1.1 billion in 2009. He also revealed that the RTA’s Strategic Plan for Public Transport is for mass transit to take the burden of 30% of journeys, with construction of a 318 km-long rail line and a 270 km tram line expected to carry a considerable amount of that load.
RTA Customers Council examines Madinati system
Al Mulla noted that the public response to Madinati is on the rise citing that the monthly reports made had grown in 2010 compared to the year before from 1333 reports to 1977 reports.
RTA Customers Council reviews upgrading taxi sector
The Customers Council, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently held its 11th gathering to discuss passenger transport on public taxis with the aim of gathering broader suggestions towards upgrading this vital sector in the Emirate of Dubai. The gathering was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board Member, CEO and Customer Council Chairperson, as well as Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Customer Services; Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Director of Franchise and Enforcement, Public Transport Agency and Hussain Al Banna, Director of Traffic Dep’t, Traffic & Roads Agency.

RTA gears up preparation for hosting UITP Congress 2011
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is gearing up preparation for holding the 59th International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Congress & Exhibition in Dubai in April 2011 despite the credit crunch currently engulfing the whole world, thanks to the consistent economy of the United Arab Emirates, according to Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the 59th UITP Congress.
RTA and Community Development Authority explore enhancing customer services, bilateral relations
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) and the Community Development Authority in Dubai have agreed to step up their bilateral relations and improve customer services through establishing new mechanisms and opening up new communication channels to ensure continual communication between them. More specifically, Community Development Authority will attend and participate in RTA Customers Council meetings held on monthly basis in order to identify the social and service requirements of customers of both parties.
