The clogged roads and jammed Metro stations that night have become as discussed as the three-minute fireworks display itself. Passengers reported scenes of chaos at some Metro stops as long queues snaked through stations, with people stranded for hours waiting for space on a train.

This year, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a master plan for the management of traffic and public transport means spanning the Dubai Metro (Burj Khalifa Station, Financial Center Station, Business Bay Station), public buses, and taxis during the New Year’s celebrations at Burj Khalifa area in order to streamline the traffic flow and ease the mobility of visitors to and from the event venue.
