Mohammed bin Rashid inaugurates Dubai Metro Green Line on 9/9/2011
"16 stations will be opened on the Green Line; namely Etisalat Station, situated at Al Qusais near Emirates Road; which is the starting point of the Green Line. The station is linked with a multi-level Park-and-Ride terminal with a capacity to house 2350 vehicles as well as a bus station in order to encourage the public to use the Metro in travelling within Dubai Emirate.
No monthly pass without Emirates ID card
"It is an absolute must to present a valid national ID card in applying for a Monthly Pass. This is RTA policy," Mohammad Yousuf Al Mudharreb, Director of the Unified Automated Fare Collection Department at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Over three million Nol card transactions recorded
More than three million Nol cards which are used for public transport including the Dubai Metro, buses and water transport have been sold since the launch of the Metro on September 9, 2009. The RTA offers four categories of Nol cards: the Red card, Silver Card, Gold Card and the personalised Blue Card.

Permanently disabled persons, both Emiratis and expatriates, can now purchase free Nol Blue cards for use in public transport across Dubai. Likewise, senior Emiratis and students, both Emiratis and expatriates, can avail a 50 per cent discounted fare on RTA’s mass transit modes comprising the metro and public buses in their daily travels within the Emirate of Dubai.

Metro aims for 170,000 daily users by Dec
The Dubai Metro is aiming to reach a daily passenger load of 170,000 per day, according to a top RTA Rail official. The Director of Rail Operation, RTA Rail Agency Ramadan Abdullah, said: “Daily users of the metro currently stand at 140,000 passengers per day, i.e. in excess of 4,020,000 passengers per month.
