The Roads and Transport Authority RTA has launched the smart metro information kiosk service by deploying 50 information systems in 23 metro stations on both the Red and Green Lines, offering a diverse cast of information and services to meet the needs of the metro riders.

The RTA has put up notices at Metro stations and the message is also displayed on the information screens inside the coaches. The Dubai Metro will not be running its Express services on January 1, 2014, the RTA has said.

Commuters faced a travel headache this morning with disruptions on Dubai Metro services. The problem is currently ongoing with RTA announcing in a statement on their Twitter page: “We’re currently working on fixing the problem. Please call on 800 90 90 for more information.”

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the timing of various services to be delivered during Eid Al-Adha holiday at Customer Service Centers, paid parking zones, public buses, Dubai Metro, marine transit modes, driving schools & institutes, and vehicles testing & registration centers.

The 14-branch network in Dubai Metro is spread in both red and green lines with seven branches in each line. In Red Line, branches are located in Khalid Bin Waleed, Jebel Ali, Emirates Tower, Emirates, Rashidiya, TECOM and Union stations. In Green Line, branches are located in Airport Free Zone, Oud Mehta, Etisalat, Salah Al Din, Stadium, Al Gubaiba and Al Fahidi stations.

An RTA information service official confirmed to Emirates 24/7 that both the Red and Green lines of the metro were running slow, in both directions, due to “some technical issues.” The customer service official said she wasn’t aware about how long the disruptions might last.
