Commuters who used the Dubai Metro on Saturday evening had to walk up and down Metro station escalators after a 10-minute power failure caused both the Red and Green Lines to stop functioning.

Close to 421 kilometers by the year 2030. That is the goal for the Dubai RTA’s Rail Agency in terms of total distance covered by trains in emirate. Speaking to the Al Roya newspaper Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO, RTA’s Rail Agency, said that 197 passenger stations, served by six Dubai Metro lines as well, will eventually be established.

“Adding two new stations to the Water Taxi’s route fulfils the vision the agency is seeking to realise in expanding the reach of mass transit systems in general and marine transport in particular, in order to make them the first mobility choice of the entire community members,” said Essa Abdul Rahman Al Dosari, CEO of the RTA Public Transport Agency.

Ambitious firms and entities are always keen on using the expertise of other mega organizations which have extensive experience in accomplishing giant projects of paramount importance and strategic dimension over the long run in a bid to capitalize on their accumulated experiences and practices yielding positive results worthy of being shared by others.

The UAE has already committed $7.6 billion in Dubai on the Metro (Red and Green lines) and another $3.26 billion on several major road projects which is in addition to a PPP with Italian construction and infrastructure company Salini Costruttori, to overhaul sections of the UAE-Saudi Arabia Highway.
